Glorious Gingham

Sacramento, CA

For this young couple and growing family, having only one full bath in the home meant extremely high function was top priority! Making it toddler friendly, but also providing privacy options for guests and the adults in the home. Having a pocket door to separate the tub/shower and toilet room from the vanity allows for varying levels of privacy depending on the users preference and offers both zones to be in use at the same time. A double vanity was critical for this space so each parent can have their own zone while also assisting the little one. A small cubby was left open at the base of the vanity to tuck away the kids stool when not in use. Thinking forward to when the kids are grown enough and the stool is no longer needed, an additional drawer can be installed in its place for even more storage – which every growing family needs! With a soft neutral palette, the fun accents in the space come out in the various grid like patterns in the tile and wallcovering. Although the gingham patterned wallpaper covers only one wall, the playful pattern is amplified through the space with it being reflected in the mirrored medicine cabinets. The simplicity of black, white and warm white oak is an incredible foundation that lends itself to compliment any decor. As this young family grows through the seasons of life and design preferences evolve, this timeless look will please any aesthetic.
